On the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona (USA), a small but vital part of the Sonoran Desert is preserved as the Saguaro National Park (East-Rincon Mountain District) It's one of 3 national parks in Arizona.
At the Riparian Overlook stop. I wanted to capture some Teddy Bear Cholla Cactus. Along my walk, I noticed the "unnoticeable" wildflowers, I love to photograph. As a bonus, I saw my favorites, butterflies. If not for all the gentle wing movement, I would have missed them. The Elada Checkerspot butterfly (texola elada), are a fairly slow, weak flyer, and they are small, having 1.5 inches or 3.3 cm wingspans. Down on bended knee, due to their slow nature, I was able to capture it in action.
Here it landed on inconspicuous, dainty, wildflower, "Rock Jasmine or Pygmyflower" as they are called. Butterfly to flower, it was a "Balancing Butterfly Act" moment.

Zina Zinchik
Beatiful capture!
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you so much Zina. When you have a beautiful subject as with this tiny butterfly and flowers (a dare to be noticed moment), the work of the photographer sometimes works. This was one of my toughest moments. I generally do not photograph butterflies with a macro lens. I generally use a long lens, otherwise they flutter away. However, it would not focus on such a tiny subject (manually or automatically), nor with my regular lens either. Fortunately for me, these butterflies are considered "poor flyers" and it did not try to fly away when I got in close (although might have wanted to to).

Absolutely Beautiful!! L/F
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you Rick Hansen for sharing your thoughts about my butterfly photography. It was a difficult task to capture such a small butterfly on those tiny flowers. I am glad you like it and have chosen it as one of your favorites.

A butterfly I have not seen in these parts, so very beautiful! Fantastic capture, wow! Send them to me! lol
Janet Marie replied:
Sharon! Thank you for visiting my gallery and sharing your wonderful comment about my photography. I really appreciate it! It is a butterfly that is in central Texas and Arizona. They are a very small butterfly and it was quite difficult to photograph. I am amazed I was able to get some images of it.

Yvonne! Thank you for visiting my gallery and sharing your delightful comment about my photography. I really appreciate it! A very difficult shot, as my camera was not cooperating, needing to try 3 different lenses. I mean who has time to mess around when trying to capture a butterfly.

Beautiful closeup of this butterfly, Janet! well done
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you dear, Chance, it wasn’t easy. Trying 3 different lenses, all kinds of settings, manual focus, auto focus. Somehow I managed to get some good shots. Such a little butterfly, on my knees on rocky soil. Fortunately these little guys are slow flyers, because with all my challenges, I had good cooperation. So I appreciate the well done. That means a lot. Janet💕
