Description
The desert cassia shrub (Cassia nemophila) has unique, feathery foliage that looks beautiful from a distance or close up. The green foliage of this plant differentiates it from other cassias. Depending on the angle of the sunlight, the leaves have a bright green color, with a slightly blue or silver hue. From a distance, the thin, needle-like and fleshy leaves of this shrub make it look feathery and magical.
What really catches my attention, is the abundant clusters of yellow flowers that appear from late winter to spring. The flowers cover the whole shrub and make it look like a yellow ball.
"Desert Cassia Delight," are plentiful in the Arizona Sonoran Desert, really adding to the beauty of our spring.These plants are a member of the legume family, and their beautiful flowers look exactly like the flowers on a pea plant.
