Description
I am among people that are fascinated by the native Sonoran Desert plants. The Desert Marigold is recognized as one of the stars. They are in the Aster family, and certainly deserve recognition for both their beauty and their hardiness in the face of the hostile desert climate.
Springtime in Arizona is a much anticipated event, as I am always amazed at how these seemingly insignificant blooms, can adorn our world with their colorful and vibrant beauty. I like to pause and examine their intricately shaped blossoms.
Getting in close with a shallow depth of field shot, always creates such a beautifully natural background to my photography.
Truly, wildflowers beautifully complement our environment. They add a unique dimension to our enjoyment of life. For this we are indebted to their Creator and Designer!

I have to agree with you Torfinn, as I love to get in close, creating that marvelous, naturally artistic background, that the camera captures so perfectly. Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts about this. I really appreciate it!

Desert Marigold is just one of the many flowering plants we have in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. Something we always look forward to in the springtime. You certainly were "going for the gold" with this one. Wonderful up close and personal photography, creating such a marvelous background. Purple and yellow are always such complementary colors. Promoting in the discussion thread in your art group, Beauty Of Arizona. Happy to support and participate in them. like/fave/Facebook

Thank you Kay. What a lovely comment. Thank you for the fave and the tweet. I really appreciate it! These are a springtime bloom. They weren’t too prevalent this year due to the lack of winter rain. Janet 💕

Oh how I love this beautiful little yellow desert plant and how it appears to be floating in thin air! So nicely capture, Janet! And of cos, I enjoyed reading your description! You make me want to visit Az with my camera! : ) L/F
Janet Marie replied:
Hi Deborah! They do seem to float in the air, as they are on the end of a tall stem (impossible to capture if it is windy). This shallow depth of field shot had a lovely purplish bokeh background. They are a fairly good size bloom, about 2 1/2" across. Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts about "Going For the Gold." I really it, and the fave too. I am also glad to know that you enjoyed reading my description. Janet💕
Loredana Gallo
Oh eccolo il tuo fiore colorato appena visto in bianco e nero. Non so dire quale mi piace di più! Sicuramente è bellissimo! loredana
Janet Marie replied:
Translate from Italian to English: Oh there it is your colorful flower just seen in black and white. I don't know which one I like best! It sure is beautiful! loredana. Loredana! Thank you for leaving such a nice comment about this. However, this is not the color version of my black and white. I photographed this on March 28th, and the black and white on March 11th. They are both desert marigolds, but two separate flowers. I do have a color version of the black and white flower (2 separate images photographed of the same flower), called "First Desert Marigold Delight."
Janet Marie replied:
This was a sunny day when I photographed it, and the black and white was taken in the shade.

Lovely composition - this bright desert marigold is filled with golden glow and delicate lines and texture- perfect capture- a happy image LF
Janet Marie replied:
Alida! Aren't you sweet. Thank you for sharing your lovely comment about this spring bloom. It is nice to be able to take notice of it when it is being kissed by the sun. I am delighted that it evokes the feelings that you described. A HAPPY moMEnt is just what I strive for. Living on a Sonoran Desert acre, can make it difficult to have the usual garden flowers, as the critters devour them. So, I have become enamored with the wildflowers. Desert Marigolds are such a showy flower, and I really enJoy capturing their radiance. I am glad you like this and decided to choose it as one of your favorites too. Janet💕
