Description
I love the diverse plants in the Arizona Sonoran Desert, and I am fortunate to be able to have some of that diversity right in my own, desert garden of joy. I have several species of Cholla Cacti around my home, and have had the pleasure to welcome the springtime blooms on all the various varieties of cacti.
This here is the Cane or Walkingstick Cholla Cactus (Cylindropuntia spinosior), producing these lovely pink flowers. The petals have a soft, delicate look to them. The arms of the cactus grow quite long, spindly, and in all directions. Many cacti grow in the middle of what is called a nurse plant. In my desert, some have chosen to do so in many of the creosote bushes.
This bloom, graces this cholla, as though a hanging ornament. Decorated "In My Pink Adornment!

The Cholla cactus has so many varieties, producing so many different colors of flowers. This Staghorn Cholla has such wonderful pastel pink petals, light and airy, whereas another one I have growing produced magenta or burgundy petaled flowers.
