I love the diverse plants in the Arizona Sonoran Desert, and I am fortunate to be able to have some of that diversity right in my own, desert garden of joy. I have several species of Cholla Cacti around my home, and have had the pleasure to welcome the springtime blooms on all the various varieties of cacti.
This here is the staghorn cholla cactus, producing these lovely, vibrant pink flowers. The petals have a soft, delicate look to them, with their burgundy-red or magenta blooms. The arms of the cactus grow quite long, spindly, and in all directions. Many cacti grow in the middle of what is called a nurse plant. In my desert, some have chosen to do so in many of the creosote bushes (as seen in the background here).
This bloom, graces this cholla, "In Pink Elegance!" Pink is my "power" color, "take back my life color."
