There is lots of interesting reading about the common sunflower, although they are not too common to my daughter. They are her favorite flower, and I couldn't resist having a day of sharing her wonderful blooms. So, "It's A Daughter's Choice!"
I will just share a few points that I find interesting about these marvelously, designed blooms! The name "sunflower" originates from the Greek helios meaning "sun" and anthos meaning "flower," since these flowers always turn towards the sun. Sunflowers actually come from Central and South America, not Greece, and were grown more for their usefulness than their beauty.
A sunflower's meaning differs from culture to culture. To some, the sunflower promises power, warmth, and nourishment — all the attributes of the sun itself. I like the name "sunflower" because I feel it's a flower that reminds us of the sun, like I use to draw in my childhood.
You cannot look at a sunflower without feeling like you are "walking on sunshine." Whose mood doesn't improve with a little bit of sunshine? A sunflower is like letting the warmth of the sun bathe you in light and positive energy. Anyway, it's a flower that can't help but bring sunshine to yOUR day, wouldn't you agree!
