Description
Arizona's Sonoran Desert has such awesome clouds. Spring had just sprung, and I took out time from my desert flowers photography, to capture some March sunsets. I love clouds in all their stages. They stir my imagination and form many thoughts as to what I see with the clouds. They can make a vivid impression on me.
As I step out the backdoor to my natural desert garden of joy, at the end of the day I can be greeted with such with such amazing clouds. Just when you may think you have seen one cloud, you've seen them all. Well, I have never seen one like this. It's like where did this one come from. Looking like a space probe out of the Star Trek film, "The Voyage Home," hovering over the Rincon Mountain range to the East. I just had to grab my camera to capture this unusual wonder.
According to the AccuWeather Website: Lenticular clouds have been regularly confused for UFOs throughout history due to the their smooth, round or oval lens-shaped structure. The clouds are not uncommon, but are most regularly found near mountainous areas and can appear singular or stacked like pancakes.
Exactly what I saw here. Thank you Accuweather Website for describing my "Looming Lenticular Cloudscape," so well.

Noticed your reply here. Stopped by to comment on a cloud photo. You must have typed that while I was over. Yes I very very much enjoyed the visit. You and Jerry showed me the best hospitality of anyone during my time in Arizona. I enjoyed each moment and look forward to it again!
Janet Marie replied:
When you came back in from the art studio, I had mentioned to you that I was replying to some of your comments. I am glad you noticed the reply. I will go to my favorites to see what you and others replied (some don’t reply though) to my comments. It’s a good way to get to know others (unless all they say is great capture for a comment and just thank you for a reply). I am very glad to know that you found our hospitality enjoyable. We wanted to make your visit something to remember. So glad we did.

what an outstanding capture Janet! a bizarre and unusual sight for the Sonoran Desert indeed! I used to see them more frequently in Wyoming. the elevation is much higher and it's always windy, creating unusual shapes in the clouds. But I don't think I ever got to photograph one because the weather changes SO quickly there that as soon as you see something in the sky, it will have changed in 5 minutes.
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you dear, Chance for your marvelous words expressed about my cloud photography. The beauty of Lenticular clouds is that they hover for a while. So no worries of it changing in 5 minutes. That is what gave it that eeriness to it, as though it traveled here from another place. I love all the different types of clouds, and in all their stages. We have wonderful atmospheric conditions to produce such amazing clouds. So glad you like it and feel it's an outstanding capture. Hope you are enjoying your visit. Has been wonderful getting to know you better. Here in Vail, it can be fairly windy. Jerry calls it the "gale in Vail!" I always appreciate your visits to my gallery. Janet 💕

Nice capture Janet! You have certainly been paying attention to the world and sky around us. By the way, these lenticular clouds are indeed uncommon here in the Sonoran Desert.
Janet Marie replied:
I have been nicknamed the “cloud whisperer” and I am elated by clouds. I have the privilege to live in an area that has the atmospheric conditions that produce phenomenal cloudscapes. This was a surprise for sure. Rincon Peak can be seen right from by back yard acre. So I am always checking out the clouds. Thank you Douglas for taking the time to visit my gallery and share your enthusiastic comment about this. I appreciate your appreciation for this rarity. Janet 💕
