Description
The Claret cup hedgehog cactus is one of those desert beauties. Known as claret cup hedgehog cactus, because of its scientific name, Echinocereus triglochidiatus. The part “echinos” is Greek and means hedgehog. The cactus is small and spiny with a rounded little body, so the name is appropriate. Claret cup cactus is native to the desert areas of the American Southwest, is best identified by its flowers, which are orange or red in color and have rounded petals.
This was growing in the garden of a fine dining restaurant, located in the Foothills of Tucson, Arizona. It's wonderful beauty did not go unnoticed by me, taking the opportunity for a photo session, giving me such pleasure to do so. To say the least, it was "Opulent Orange Brilliance!"
