Description
On the outskirts of Tucson, Arizona (USA), a small but vital part of the Sonoran Desert is preserved as the Saguaro National Park (East-Rincon Mountain District) It's one of 3 national parks in Arizona. Here the Saguaro Cactus, monarchs of the cactus world, as not the only desert flora in the Park. It is full of surprisingly lush and diverse desert landscape.
I am not sure if I would call this Engelmann Prickly Pear Cactus lush, but they can have their unique diversity about them. As I was photographing some autumn globe mallow blooms, this caught my eye, (critters are known to nibble the inside of there stems). Looking like someone had dropped their mask on the way to the masquerade party. Could it be that the "Phantom Of The Opera Is Here."
