February showers make March wildflowers in the desert parks and create yet another reason to explore this beautiful state! I was one of the thousands to visit the Arizona Picacho Peak State Park, as wildflowers burst onto the scene.
Especially the Mexican gold poppies, the comeback kid has made its triumphant return. The wildflower season of 2019, is exploding! A close relative of the California poppy, the Mexican gold poppy is smaller and more drought tolerant than its relative. It also tends to bloom in more yellows than oranges..
Picacho Peak State Park, is hands down, one of the best spots to see blooming wildflowers in Arizona, with bushels of incredible golden blooms of Mexican gold poppies. This year was an overcast day, with the sun peeking out ever so often for brief moments. Lending to one of those brief moments, truly "Poppies Radiance!"
Far from being a desolate, barren land, the Sonoran Desert has a rich abundance of life. Inviting you to come and explore the desert, and discover some of its beauty. The contrast of vibrant flowers against the backdrop of green is a sight to behold. So with paintbrush and palette in hand (my camera), I am sharing the rich colors of these Mexican gold poppies

Picacho Peak State Park is a great place to view them and all the varieties of wildflowers. Due to lack of enough rain from October to February, they will be sparse this year. Hopefully I will have a chance to view them, even if just a few. I appreciate the fave too. Janet๐

Our flower season is a bit of a bust so far, even in Death Valley which isn't expecting much this year. Thank you for sharing your lovely and special world in such a beautiful way. I truly appreciate the honor. Well with such a wet winter, it's been such a delight this year at Picacho Peak State Park. Famous for the Mexican Gold Poppies. I don't know about the California Poppies season in California, but they don't have the poppies surrounded by the Sonoran Desert landscape, especially, the Saguaro cactus, or surrounded by those marvelous volcanic rock formations. ๐Janet artBUDette

Well I am hoping that those who follow me from around the world have gotten to be introduced to the beauty of the Arizona Upland Region of the Sonoran Desert (the experts want to possibly change our category). The Sonoran Desert has 7 regions, and I am delighted to be in that region. Tucson is the largest city in that region. Sadly to say, I think some living in Southern Arizona lack the knowledge and appreciation of our diversity as well. I am so glad you like this and feel itโs a glorious shot.
