Description
The Temple of Athena Nike (featured in my Athens Greek collection), is on the southwest corner of the Acropolis, adjacent to the Propylaea (or propylea or propylaia). A propylaea, is any monumental gateway in ancient Greek architecture. The prototypical Greek example is the "Propylaea," that serves as the grand entrance to the Parthenon temple and was built around the natural entrance to the plateau of the Acropolis, in Athens, Greece.
It was quite a trek getting to this monumental gateway to the Acropolis. After ascending upward on the Roman-built steps (which are quite slick, like walking on slippery marble), you are taken to the “Propylaea.” With many tourists pinning me in, and waiting my turn to get through the entrance, all I could do was look up. As I was stopped, I wanted to capture the pillars and columns. One can see the restoration that has been completed as of 2009.

Interesting POV here, Janet. The ancient architects and builders created such impressive structures without modern equipment!....Fav / like

Wow, Johanna! What a nice surprise to have someone stop by my gallery of Greece. It was an amazing trip, somewhat surreal in a way. Like, was I really there. Thank you for sharing your comment about this. I really appreciate it! Janet💕
