Description
The Arizona Prickly Pear Cactus is one of my favorite cactus. They only bloom in the springtime. Here is seen the Engelmann Prickly Pear Cactus, Opuntia engelmannii, perhaps the most widespread of all prickly pear cacti. They have large paddles, and shorter spines than the Tulip Prickly Pear cactus I have also featured, and they point downward.
This capture was taken right in my own desert garden of joy. These cactus blooms remind me of my favorite flower, the rose. Yellow just evokes such lovely feelings of joy and happiness; a symbol of friendship, don't you think! Here, coming out of one of these paddles are two beauties, "Quite A Pair" wouldn't you say!
