Description
When your home, sits on a acre of natural Sonoran Desert landscape, you will have many desert dwellers, who make your home, their home. There is always animal and bird action going on in my desert garden of joy, especially when the summer monsoon, is a summer nonsoon.
It unseasonably hot at this 3500' elevation. So, per the Arizona Fish and Game advice with the lack of water for the native animals, we set out a flat pan of water, as well as watering down some of the desert flora. This makes the ground cool and damp on a hot July day like this.
It seemed that the word had gotten out to all the critters, that we were running some sort of resort at the desert beach or rest stop, as they had been coming and making themselves right at home. and trying to stay cool.
I had something very unusual happen, a greater roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus), came right up to my back porch, to take advantage of the much needed water. Moving ever so slightly and slowly, it allowed me to photograph it as it was checking out my desert landscape. I have never seen them do that before. They usually hurry in and hurry out. Just one of the many poses, this roadrunner graced this photographer with. With its tail down, he seemed fairly relaxed for the moment.
With Covid-19 keeping us from traveling to a beach resort, it did not stop my visitors from the animal world from doing so.

Living on a desert acre of Sonoran Desert flora, comes the Sonoran Desert fauna too. Especially with the lack of rain in our 2020 summer monsoon. Generally their visit is a passing through, checking out possible food. But if they see me, off they go. This character made himself at home, giving me the opportunity to photograph him from various angles. Later dug a hole in the dirt and laid in it. He must have felt quite safe to do that, especially with his legs behind him. Thank you so much Robert for your lovely words expressed and sharing this on Twitter. I have shared this on Twitter as well, only using my Premium account.

Brilliant capture: the most detailed photo I've ever seen of a roadrunner! l/f

Thank you Dorothy for your awesome comment shared about my special occasion with this wild bird. He was a most cooperative visitor, even digging a spot out in the ground to lay down in. So, he was ready to hang out for a while around the "watering hole" so to speak. I am glad you like it and have chosen it as a favorite too.
