Description
Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park (USA), is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World and its vastness humbles the artist and photographer. It is such a joy to attempt to capture its beauty, varied by all the atmospheric conditions at the time.
Ah, Shoshone Point, two miles southeast of Yaki Point. Not an easy find, as this point is not signposted along the Desert View Drive (east entrance drive). To get to this spot, one has to take a 20 minute walk, along a one mile unpaved (rocky, uneven, but level) road or path, through open ponderosa pine woodland.
At the end of the path, the cliffs form a narrow point of high land, that juts out from the plateau, and offering views of more than 180° of the Grand Canyon. To the west, the edge of the rim is formed by Yaki Point, with Cremation Creek below. Smack dab in the middle, and from left to right, is the Zoroaster Temple Complex, "Stealing The Spotlight!" With windswept, wispy clouds hovering overhead. In the lower right foreground, is a pie-shape rock peeking out, known as Newton Butte.

Amazing colors and composition! l/f
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you dear Helen for thinking so, as so many over process images of the Grand Canyon. Almost to the point of not recognizing it. When you have had the privilege to view it about 30 times, you have seen it in various times of day. I appreciate you choosing this as one of your favorites.

Janet, what a gorgeous, vast, intriguing landscape captured here form a point less traveled. Zoroaster steals the show with that ambient golden hour glow. Beautifully captured and described!

I love the straight line between the Canyon rocks and the sky. Well done. And the pov is fantastic. LF
Janet Marie replied:
Visited a new spot here at the Grand Canyon National Park. The clouds were marvelous that day, really showcasing the grandeur of this beautiful place. Thank you for your appreciation of how I have captured that grandeur. I really appreciate you visiting this once again. Getting the horizon straight can be a challenge, but is a must. Also so many do not include the sky, when photographing this place. Knowing this place well, helps one to know what to capture. I really appreciate your continued support of my artwork. 💕Janet

Very nice description of this solitary and amazing viewpoint, Janet. It shows the intricate curves, layers, colors, and carving as well as the immensity of the Zoroaster Temple complex. Golden hour here brings out the intense hues and shadows that make this such a special time to be here!...fav / like
Janet Marie replied:
What a beautiful comment about my photography of this new discovery. It certainly was all the things you described. Capturing the sky and clouds in the scenic beauty, is something that can be lacking in many captures of the Canyon. When this is done it gives a glimpse of scale and size of the place. I am glad to have the opportunity to showcase the true, unskewed colors and grandeur of this magnificent place. So elated that you brought me here to enjoy it during a phenomenal time of day. It means a lot that you like this and have chosen it as one of your favorites too! 💕💕💕💕
