Description
I came across these wonderful sunflowers at the Historic Empire Ranch, magnificently situated in the High Sonoran Desert and rolling grasslands of the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. Southeast of Tucson, Arizona.
I had not seen them this plentiful as on this day. Hence, I couldn't resist taking out my canvas and paintbrush, MY CAMERA, to capture all this "Sunflower Happiness!"
This is the "Annual Sunflower" in the Sonoran Desert. Most abundant at roadsides and areas surrounding agricultural areas. Frequent as well in riparian situations and ranging into high elevations, as found here at the Empire Ranch. They can exceed 6 feet high.
