Description
While traveling to Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park (USA), along Highway 64 North, one gets to view a sea of various wildflowers, out the window. But of course, I can't pass up this photo opportunity. So it's driver stop and pull over!
There I stood in the middle of all these Arizona Sun Blanket Flowers or Indian Blanket Flowers (this name may refer to the resemblance to the brightly patterned blankets made by Native Americans). It is a flower belonging to the Sunflower family. Standing like showy pinwheels, they exhibit blanket-like density, which combines with blending of bright reds and yellows, to form a striking tapestry of color.
What a sight of pure delight these are, radiating such lovely colors! All the various positions of each bloom, looked as though all the Blanket Flowers, and the leaping for joy flower in the middle, "They're Dancing All Around Me!"

There is nothing more special than seeing a field of beautiful and colorful flowers in the desert, and these are gorgeous! Featured in American Desert Southwest.
Janet Marie replied:
That is so true, the desert comes alive with wildflowers in the spring. We have some wildflowers again when the monsoon rains come. These blanket flowers were taken in the high deserts of Grand Canyon area, about 8,000' elevation. I have captured them on Tucson's Catalina Mountains too. I wish these grew in my desert, I would go crazy. Thank you so much Jane, for personally stopping by my gallery to let me know that these have been given special recognition as a HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your Art Group, "AMERICAN DESERT SOUTHWEST!" I am honored.
