Description
"Tiptoe Through The Tulips"?! That's not a tulip. True, but it is a Tulip Prickly Pear Cactus. Part of my "Spring Has Sprung" series. In our Arizona Sonoran Desert, this Tulip Prickly Pear Cactus only blooms in the springtime. There are more than a dozen varieties of prickly pear cactus.
This capture was right in my own desert paradise. It has such a delightful, overlapping of yellow petals when fully opened. Exposing the reddish-pink interior. This variety of prickly pear has LONG, wicked looking spines, making it very difficult to get too close. So be sure and "Tiptoe Through The Tulips!"

Thank you Jerry for your ever so inspiring thought about my artwork. Tip toe meaning carefully, as these have wicked looking long thorns that will get you if not cautious and paying attention. I have to admit that I do need to be more careful than I have been. But as you said, I have been rewarded with capturing the best these lovelies have to offer. It is not as though they make an announcement that they are open and ready to be viewed. I am pleasantly surprised as I visit the various varieties of cacti we have in our desert garden of joy.
