Description
I was one of the thousands to visit the Arizona Picacho Peak State Park, as wildflowers burst onto the scene. Especially the Mexican gold poppies, the comeback kid has made its triumphant return. The wildflower season of 2019, was exploding.
As you drive further into the Park, along Picacho Peak Road, more diverse beauty can be seen. I loved it that I could see the backside of the Tortolita Mountains in the far distance, looking to the southeast. The Mexican gold poppies and purplish blue lupine, carpet the saguaro studded landscape.
The Saguaro Cactus is a favorite of mine, considered monarchs of the Sonoran Desert, a supreme symbol of the American Southwest, and a plant with PERSONALITY. It is renowned for the variety of ODD, ALL-TOO-HUMAN shapes it assumes...shapes, that inspire wild and fanciful imaginings.
The Saguaros standing tall and at attention, looking far and wide at what is beyond their borders. They would really have "To Go The Distance!"

The diversity of plant life there is amazing. What a beautiful area. It sure looks a bit precarious to he walking around in through all of those rocks and the uneven ground, but it's gorgeous! Beautiful capture!! Featured in American Desert Southwest. L/F And, thanks for bring the wild flower bloom to us through your wonderful photos. It's been a bust so far in Nevada and Death Valley this year!
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you so much Jane, for the HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your marvelous Art Group and a favorite, “AMERICAN DESERT SOUTHWEST!” What is so great about The a Picacho Peak State Park, is that it is right off of Interstate 10. So people traveling through, get to see this unique landmark and can stop to visit. It does cost $7.00 to get in. It wasn’t precarious at all, as I was standing on solid ground and just zoomed in for the shot. I am delighted that you like this and feel it’s gorgeous and beautiful. I truly appreciate it, and also for choosing this as one of your favorites! It’s been my pleasure to share this wildflowers excursion with the world. 2018 was a bust at Picacho Peak and Saguaro National Park for wildflowers. Big hugs, Janet 💕

I love the composition of this... the flowers in the foreground, the ALL TOO HUMAN saguaros looking out over to the distant Tortolitas. Just a great all around scene and description! Featured in Tucson and Southern Arizona.

Helen! Thank you for stopping by my gallery and sharing your lovely thoughts about my photography. I am glad you like this and feel as you have expressed. I really appreciate it and for choosing this as one of your favorites as well as sharing on Twitter. Most generous of you. I too love the Saguaro cactus, having the privilege to live where they are showcased in the Saguaro National Park Rincon Mountain District, and the Tucson Mountain District West. Here at Picacho Peak State Park they were in great abundance. Only in the Sonoran Desert do they exist. Janet 💕
