The Arizona Sonoran Desert becomes a showy display of color in the spring. I love the "dare to be noticed" blooms that I may happen upon, and cannot be ignored. These very tiny, blue wildflowers barely caught my attention. I actually was capturing my first wildflower bloom of desert marigold that had sprung up.
They are the Flatspine Stickseed (Lappula occidentalis) or Western Stickseed. While the small flowers are easy to overlook, the spiny dried nutlets are not, as they will stick to clothing or animal fur. If you walk through a patch of these plants, expect to pick hundreds of prickly nutlets out of your socks.

We have a similar wild flower here in Minnesota. It is called Blue=eyed grass. Great picture of this very small plant.

The blue-eye grass is a much more showy flower than this teeny tiny bloom. It's probably only about 1/4" in size, on elongated stems, standing up to 2' tall. These types of plants like to grow up through my prickly pear cactus. Usually it's the desert tobacco. They have picked a great spot, as that makes it near impossible to pull them up. I am so glad I had done that with these. I just can't resist capturing such dainty flowers, a "dare to be noticed" moment.
