Description
đź’•A Series of the Curve-billed Thrasher's daily routine and antics can be viewed in my "Desert Birds Collection." Their story.đź’•
We have many Sonoran Desert dwellers, who have made our home, their home. The Sonoran Desert Curve-billed Thrasher is common in our desert garden of joy. It's said to generally reside where cholla and saguaro cacti, ocotillo, mesquite and palo verde trees, and creosote bushes are prevalent. They seem to love to make their nests in the Jumping Cholla Cactus around my home.
It is so interesting and amusing, to see them go about their daily routine and antics. Here is one of those moments. It has popped it's head out of it's of home of spines and thorns (with a profile pose, they always seem to have a stern, indignant look on their face), as if to say, "Yeah Whataya Want!"
The Curve-billed Thrasher that lives in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and northwestern Mexico looks different than the form that lives in the Chihuahuan Desert of Texas and central Mexico, and they may be separate species.
The demeanor of the curve-billed has been described as "shy and rather wild", but it allows humans to view it closely. It is very aggressive in driving out potential threats, whether competitors for food or predators of its chicks.

Janet, I am not sure if books are AS popular as perhaps in the past, at least in paper format, but the absolutely explosion of Amazon, the Kindle, etc, sure looks to me like they are in high demand. I have popped into Barnes and Nobles a few times and the lines are always very long. So I think books continue to do very well. I have a journalism degree, and can see it is the newspapers that are really dying out because of the internet. But somehow books continue to thrive. Oh, and I featured this in Tucson and Southern Arizona! have a great week as well
Janet Marie replied:
Chance! Thank you for the HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your positive energy Art Group, “TUCSON AND SOUTHERN ARIZONA!” I appreciate the special recognition of my artwork, and hearing your inspiring and encouraging thoughts about doing a book. Janet 💕

You are most welcome, Janet! Your descriptions are just as fun to read as your pictures are fun to look at it. It's why I have said before you should write a book! This bird does tend to have a stern look. If I was another bird I would not want to get in its way!
Janet Marie replied:
Well with a name like Thrasher, one could be a bit grumpy. With that curved beak, it is safe to say other birds stay away. They seem to be quite powerful as they peck in the dirt along my rocks close to the sidewalk looking for bugs. The rocks and dirt get all along the edge and create quite a mess. As I have mentioned before, the book is an idea I have had before even joining FAA. Are books something people still consider, with all the internet access to things. We will have to kick this around some more. Thank you for your wonderful thoughts expressed. They are always appreciated. Have a great week!

Janet, great capture of the thrasher with a compelling description as always and a funny title. Your photos and words really gives so much color to all the life of the Sonoran Desert!
Janet Marie replied:
Chance! You always display such interest in my stories of the Sonoran Desert, as told through my photography. Thank you for that. I truly appreciate it. From this point of view, they have such a stern or indignant look. As though, who dares to trespass my space. It can be difficult to photograph in their natural setting like this, as they are always flying about, busy managing their temporary homes. I am delighted to know of your appreciation for my endeavors to capture life in our unique desert. đź’•Janet

Great title for this Thrasher with an attitude, Janet. I’d have an attitude too if I lived this close to thousands of needles! Fav/ like
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you Jerry, for visiting my gallery and sharing your wonderful comment about my artwork. I am delighted to know that you like the title. It's hard to believe this same bird sing such beautiful little songs and has such a marvelous call. I appreciate that and also for you choosing this as one of your favorites! đź’•Janet
