Description
I was out capturing some beautiful clouds, standing in the middle of the street. Low and behold, I noticed all these butterflies flying and landing all over this Zinnias Lantana, in front of my neighbor's home.
Since I am a butterfly nut, crazy for butterflies, I turned my attention to attempt to photograph these lovely creatures. I say attempt, because they would not stay still, and they were NOT having it, being photographed. I knew I would not be able to get up close and personal. So I decided to use my telephoto lens to zoom in on them, capturing them from different perspectives.
There were plenty of Painted Lady Butterflies, but only one Gulf Fritillary Butterfly. It was flittering and fluttering all over the place with all the competition. They have such vivid orange colored wings. I really wanted to showcase that, and I love to play around with black and white photography. So I did a selective coloring effect by desaturating the color in the plant, allowing the butterfly and a few flowers stand out. I call this my "Butterfly Effect!"
