I love butterflies, in fact I am nuts about them, and purple is my passion. So I have the best of both worlds with this very difficult to capture photo in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. This Sonoran Desert Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly, would not stay still. It was too busy enjoying these gorgeous, purplelicious flowers of the Texas Laurel.
Also a large bumble bee kept chasing it off as well, and included me in "the get out of here or I will sting you." But I persevered, and was able to capture it. So I have great respect and admiration for those on FAA that have such beautiful butterfly shots.
Even though a favorite in Arizona, they are not native to Arizona, but rather native to Texas, New Mexico, and Northern Mexico
