Artist's Description
During our visit to Athens, Greece, we were interested in seeing all the antiquities. I am very taken with flowers of all kinds. Hence, here in Athens, I could not help but not notice, nor resist capturing ALL the diverse, colorful, abundant, native flora growing there.
The pomegranate was quite significant in ancient Greece. A symbol of their central beliefs and ideals, namely, life and death, rebirth and eternal life, fertility and marriage, and abundance.Today, the pomegranate still has strong symbolic significance for the Greeks, used at various occasions.
I just love the delicious tasting fruits produced, and the display of beauty in springtime, when the flowers abound. Along the walkways of the Makrigianni neighborhood, was plenty of "Pomegranate Pomp," (a splendid display, especially at a public event. ostentatious boastfulness). This neighborhood is south of the Acropolis, and houses the new Acropolis Museum that was inaugurated in 2009.

I am certainly am not someone to be adored. As I am just a mere woman who gets to capture our Creator and Lofty God's handiwork. The true Artist and Designer of all these beautiful marvels. I appreciate, and am thankful for the ability to capture this beauty and share it with those who have appreciation for it in return. So sweet of you dear Viva, to hold my artwork in high esteem. I am humbled. I am so glad you love this and feel it is regal. The pomegranate has certainly been thought of in those terms. I appreciate the compliment and congrats. The beauty of Athens, Greece shared with Viva of Australia. Sending you big hugs dear lady. Signing off, as it is late. 💕Janet

What incredible color! The blossoms really fits the fruit -- I can actually see where that would become a pomegranate! Beautiful capture, you Greek goddess of the camera, you. L/F :)
Janet Marie replied:
Jane! My first commenter, how lovely! Oh yes, the color. I just couldn't pass it up. Especially after looking at numerous ancient ruins and statues. The walkway in this Makrigianni neighborhood, from the New Acropolis Museum, abound with nostalgia and colorful beauty. We have a pomegranate tree, not yet this size, what a beautiful way to produce fruit. I am so glad that you like this and feel it's an incredible and beautiful shot. Thank you for that. I also appreciate you choosing this as one of your favorites. I don't paint like you or others, so my camera will have to be my canvas, palette, and paint brush. All credit goes to the Creator and Designer of these many marvels. Of which I have the privilege to first notice, and then capture. Big hugs, Janet artBUDette
