Artist's Description
We have many Sonoran Desert dwellers, who have made our home, their home. The Cactus Wren is such a critter. They are such a comical bird as they go about their daily survival.
They love to fly to the highest points of lookout, and sing their songs. The song is a low, raspy, cha cha cha cha cha, very reminiscent of a car's engine trying to turn over on a cold winter day. No wintry day here though. On the contrary, a very hot, sticky, summer day . We like to set out water for those, oh so hot moments when the Cactus Wren says, "Thanks For The Drink!"
The Cactus Wren, has been Arizona's State Bird, since 1931; its presence and song are considered characteristic of southwestern deserts.

These guys really do get thirsty on our long summer 115 degree days, Janet. Feels good to help them out. Even a thirsty Gila Monster came for a drink...fav / like
Janet Marie replied:
When a bird comes to get a drink from a dripping hose, you know they are thirsty. With the cactus wren, one has to be quite stealthy to capture them, as they quickly fly away to the top of the ocotillos in our desert acre. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and showing your support. I truly appreciate that, as well as the like and fave!
