I love the diverse plants in the Arizona Sonoran Desert, and I am fortunate to be able to have some of that diversity right in my own, desert garden of joy. I have several species of Cholla Cacti around my home, and have had the pleasure to welcome the springtime blooms on all the various varieties of cacti.
This here is the Staghorn Cholla Cactus, producing these lovely pink flowers. The petals have a soft, delicate look to them, not like my Cane or Walking Stick Cholla, with their burgundy-red or magenta blooms. The arms of the cactus grow quite long, spindly, and in all directions. Many cacti grow in the middle of what is called a nurse plant. In my desert, some have chosen to do so in many of the creosote bushes.
This bloom, graces this cholla, with more blooms to follow. "We're Just Tickled Pink" to welcome them with all the rest.

Perfect depth of field on this one - love the very soft purple in the background - sets the pink cholla flower petals off perfectly.
