We have many Sonoran Desert dwellers, who have made our home, their home. The House Finch is common in our desert garden of joy. It can be very difficult to photograph them, as there is a lot of desert vegetation to hide in.
A male and female House Finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) visited on this wintery day in January, landing on various things. Here the male perched itself on this tiny branch of a Creosote Bush. Since it is wintertime, the branches are bear, giving the opportunity to capture its visit.
As it was hanging on for dear life to this tiny, thin branch, it looked as though it was "contemplating" its next place to perch. Such a sweet, colorful bird, the House Finch. One of the joyful moments in life.
