Description
Elephant Head, is a prominent 2000' natural landmark, in the Santa Cruz Valley, just south of Tucson, Arizona (USA).
This massive, granite, craggy, peak, sweeps majestically skyward at the western end of the Santa Rita Mountains. It thrusts its head west of the better-known, Mount Hopkins and Mount Wrightson. You can see the peak from certain vantages in western Tucson (like Saguaro National Park), and from Interstate 19 south of Tucson.
Here, I have stopped onto the Frontage Road, off Interstate 19, to photograph this impossible to miss, scenic view, of this famous landmark. I am glad not to be driving, as this, "Elephant Head Mountain Vista," can be quite a distraction while traveling this route. One of the scenic landscapes we look forward to seeing, while traveling to and from Tubac, Arizona. We will have that opportunity again, as we have submitted artwork in an upcoming Art Show at βTubac Center Of The Arts.β

you are most welcome for the comment. Riding passenger on I-19 northbound does allow some fantastic views of this range - it is fun to watch how they change form as the perspective changes!

Beautiful capture of the Santa Rita Mountains. Agree completely, it is a distraction while driving I-19 sometimes!
Janet Marie replied:
I just wanted to share a full view of the underrated Santa Rita Mountain range, from an Eastside view. A driver can glance at it every so often, but the passenger traveling Interstate 19 Northbound, can stare out the window and enjoy the scenic ride. Thank you for stopping by to comment on this one. I glad to know you feel itβs beautiful. I appreciate that. Janet π
