Description
The Canyon Overlook Trail is one of the few official trails in the upper East Canyon of Zion National Park Utah. It's a nice short-but-sweet hike that ends at a great viewpoint looking into the main canyon.
Along the way, are some great views and a break in a cool shaded alcove with lush ferns growing out of the walls. We stopped in that alcove to capture our first glance of the rock formation, Mt. Carmel (featured in my Zion Photography Collection).
Upon getting closer to the end of the hiking trail is a full view of Mt. Carmel. The tunnel taking you from the East end of Zion National Park, into the main part of the Park, is carved out and going through Mt. Carmel. It is a vision of delightful beauty, soon we'll be taking the tunnel drive, to get into the West end of the Park. So I decided to use a little play on words, calling this, "Mt. Carmel Tunnel Vision."

That one mile tunnel through this massive formation is quite impressive with its several large "bay windows" along the way. It was a beautiful day for the Canyon Overlook hike with our special guest!....fav / like
