For me, there is one National Park, that stands out amongst the many wonderful National Parks in southern Utah, bar none, it is "Zion National Park!" It's just dripping with so much beauty, it has stopped this visitor in her tracks, leaving me awe-struck." In the past 30 years of visiting there, it has continued to do so!
After experiencing all the unique beauty along Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway east entrance, we are ready to see the beauty of Zion from the Springdale west entrance and the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. All you have to do is "Just Tunnel Through," the 1.1 mile, Mt. Carmel tunnel, carved through the rock.
As you come out of the tunnel, there is a rapid drop as the narrow road travels down the zigzagging switchbacks to the bottom of the canyon floor, leading to Kayenta formations and towering Navajo sandstone. The carved out area at the bottom of the switchbacks is known as Lower Zion Canyon.
When traveling down the six switchbacks from the east entrance, the Great Arch becomes in full view. The end of the Canyon Overlook Trail is directly above this blind arch. This sort of blind arch is found throughout the park but only the Great Arch and Red Arch Mountain are named.

That lone pine tree at the top shows how high above the valley this is. People at Canyon Overlook are barely discernible as they view the splendor from there. One giant arch for sure...Fav / like

Great point, Jerry. If you put the green square to right of the white rock at the top, you can see a person bending over. Makes me wish I could stand where they are and being looking out over the lower canyon splendor and viewing the West Temple. My long lens is a help in getting some of these great shots from a far. Thank you for your insightful and wonderful expressions as always. The Park calls this a blind arch, one of the few they name. I also appreciate the fave! 💕💕💕💕

Once again Janet - quite the breathtaking scene and image. That tunnel drive was most impressive wasn't it. Well done again; and a great reminder of my trips there.

Yes the tunnel is quite thrilling. I actually got to photograph images of this beauty from the tunnel windows. Not easy, as we are not supposed to stop. I will be sharing those as well. Right above this arch is the Overlook Canyon hike. That shares an awesome view of the West Temple, before entering the tunnel. Thank you for your generous words, and the well done.
