Description
Picacho Peak State Park, is a state park surrounding Picacho Peak, in Picacho, Arizona. The park is located between Casa Grande and Tucson near Interstate 10 in Pinal County.
I was one of the thousands to visit the Arizona Picacho Peak State Park, as wildflowers burst onto the scene. Especially the Mexican gold poppies, the comeback kid has made its triumphant return. The wildflower season of 2019, was exploding.
While meandering up the trail that winds up the peak, views looking west and east are spectacular. While on the nature trail off Harrington Loop, I stopped to capture this unique looking Saguaro Cactus. Monarchs of the Sonoran Desert.
The Saguaro Cactus is a favorite of mine, a supreme symbol of the American Southwest, and a plant with PERSONALITY. It is renowned for the variety of ODD, ALL-TOO-HUMAN shapes it assumes...shapes, that inspire wild and fanciful imaginings. I liked the perspective of it looming above this creosote bush, taking what looks like, "A Peek At Newman Peak!"
The Picacho Mountain Range stands tall and proud in the background, highlighting Newman Peak. Interstate-10 crests the range over a low saddle connecting well-known Picacho Peak to the west (where I am standing), and the main body of the Picacho Range, to the east.
