Description
In climbing to the top of the Acropolis, one has to stop along the way due to the crowds of tourists, also our private tour guide relating the history of what is before us. Against a background of modern Athens, Greece, we see the Temple of Hephaestus, a beautifully preserved Greek temple overlooking the Ancient Agora of Athens. I love that protective hedge of the lush greenery that surrounds it. Providing a line of demarcation from the modern city.
The Temple of Hephaestus was built two years before the Parthenon. Today, this temple is one of the greatest ancient monuments in Greece, built around 450 B.C.E., and is a classic example of Dorian architecture.
