Description
The Blanket Flower, Firewheel, or Indian Blanket Flower (Gaillardia pulchella), is a flower belonging to the Sunflower family. It's a radiant daisy-like bloom, standing like showy pinwheels, they exhibit blanket-like density, which combines with blending of bright reds and yellows, to form a striking tapestry of color.
Truly a flower of intricate and refined delicacy, and one of my favorite wildflowers to photograph. They pop up along roadsides, in our gardens, along rocky soil. Seemingly greeting me with the invitation to capture their beauty and get up-close and personal. The shallow depth of field photography, gives a lovely natural background.
