Description
Due to all the summer monsoon in Southeastern Arizona, there was no shortage of wildflowers. They blanketed the landscape.
One such wildflower is aptly named at doing so, as its name is Blanket Flower, Arizona Sun, Firewheel, or Indian Blanket Flower (Gaillardia pulchella). It's a flower belonging to the Sunflower family. A radiant daisy-like bloom, looking like showy pinwheels. The blending of bright reds and yellows, give a striking tapestry of color to the viewer.
They are also a widely cultivated ornamental plant used as a perennial garden flower. I brought my camera to capture the prairie sunflowers, but I never know what beauty will greet me. What a meet and greet this was too, a pure delight, radiating such lovely colors!
