I was one of the thousands to visit the Arizona Picacho Peak State Park, as wildflowers burst onto the scene. Especially the Mexican gold poppies, the comeback kid has made its triumphant return. The wildflower season of 2019, is exploding!
At Picacho Peak State Park, one can explore the mountainside blossoms of wildflowers. Even though the Mexican gold poppies are in the starring role, I like to notice the tiniest of the wildflowers, really uncredited in their roles. But I say, "Fiddledeedee It's Fiddleneck!" Common Fiddleneck (Amsinckia intermediate) that is. Also called Intermediate Fiddleneck. The leafy stems have both long, spreading, bristly hairs and very short, dense, downward projecting hairs as seen here. They are irritating to the touch. There are about 10 different species.
In case you didn't know, fiddledeedee is a word used to express disbelief or scorn.

Wow, Lisa! You say the most amazing things to me, about my photography. I love those “dare to be noticed” moments. The tiniest unheralded wildflowers. I mean who is noticing these, when visitors are there see the Mexican gold poppies. Also it’s a challenge to capture these tiny flowers, the camera freaks out. This group of the orang-yellow flowers I just had to capture. I am delighted that you love the write-up, as I try to challenge myself to make them interesting.
