Description
A four hour road trip, north of Athens, Greece, takes us to the village of Kalampaka.
This is a panoramic shot of the "Stone Forest," a vast, unique, rock complex of Meteora, that includes these forested hills.
Meteora, featuring towering sandstone rocks and age-old monasteries, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is a leading tourist attraction. Thousands of tourists visit to admire the unique landscape and get a look into monastery living.
My husband and I had a fascination for these remarkable rock formations, when we were first introduced to their magnificence, and awesome beauty, in the James Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only!" Never thinking 37 years later, that we would actually get to see it in person.
Purely by coincidence, I posted some other photography of Meteora, on the anniversary of that film's release, June 26, 1981.
