Description
Poinsettias (Euphorbia pulcherrima) are popular potted plants, particularly during December. A Poinsettia shares with us, their vibrant beauty of flaming red colored leaves called, bracts. Poinsettia flowers are small, green or yellow, growing inconspicuously in the center of each leaf bunch, as seen here.
Much is written about the poinsettia, which can be researched on the web. Most interesting reading, and just sharing one tidbit, that it gets its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant to the US in 1825.
They adorn our garden and homes, giving us such a display of their splendor. This is for those who have a passion for their pomp and pageantry. I just had to photograph the spectacle that they create.
