Description
Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park (USA), is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World and its vastness humbles the artist and photographer. It is such a joy to attempt to capture its beauty, varied by all the atmospheric conditions at the time.
Ah, Shoshone Point, two miles southeast of Yaki Point. Not an easy find, as this point is not signposted along the Desert View Drive (east entrance drive). To get to this spot, one has to take a 20 minute walk, along a one mile unpaved (rocky, uneven, but level) road or path, through open ponderosa pine woodland.
At the end of the path, the cliffs form a narrow point of high land, that juts out from the plateau, and offering views of more than 180° of the Grand Canyon, a vista usually appreciated without any other visitors. Here at the far east part of Shoshone Point, the sun was setting and lighting up Vishnu Temple in the east, as seen through the Canyon trees on the rim. I love looking through the trees of the Grand Canyon. They give so much character to the scenic view. It was sheer "Splendor At Shoshone Point!"

This evokes being on the RIM so well, Janet. The rocky ground, rugged trees, and distant vistas of this spectacular place on the planet. The distant horizon of Echo Cliffs where we were on our way to this awesome place just hours ago.... Fav / like

Thank you dear one for bringing that out. So many visitors just go to the crowded, fenced lookout points, and not stopping to take notice of all the glorious scenic spots. I love the way the sun was lighting up this famous rock formation, Vishnu Temple. I appreciate your beautiful words expressed about my photography. It means so much. I appreciate you choosing this as one of your favorites too! 💕💕💕💕

A well planned and composed photograph and such a gorgeous view and nature! This is stunning Janet! LF
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you Johanna for stopping by my gallery to share your lovely thoughts about my artwork. It wasn’t really so composed or planned. We know the Grand Canyon so well, we are looking for those moments when the sun will light up the cliffs and rock formations. The lighting changes so quickly due to moving clouds and such, that moments like this can be missed if I don’t pay attention or act quickly. I am very fond of trees and Grand Canyon has so much diversity in that area. We hung out at this point, new to us, so it lent itself to many photo opportunities. I am delighted that you feel as I do about it. I am also appreciative that you have chosen it as one of your favorites. 💕Janet
