Description
π Come visit more biodiverse beauty, in my gallery "Cave Creek Cnyn Portal AZ" π
Nestled in the Chiricahua Mountains of Southeastern Arizona, 150 miles east of Tucson, lies Cave Creek Canyon, a hidden gem (as I didn't know this was here before), with spectacular rhyolite cliffs, pine-oak woodland, serene flowing streams, and abundant flora. Cave Creek Canyon has been dubbed, βArizonaβs Yosemite.β It is part of the Coronado National Forest Recreation Area.
You access this splendor, from the tiny town of Portal, which sits at the mouth of the Canyon.
Standing before me, in this wintery sky, is a colorful lichen-covered, sculpted edifices of stone, looking as though paint has been spilled down their surfaces. At the feet of these stone walls, are layers of pine-oak woodland. A real standout against the desert floor. Certainly, this is an "Imposing Cave Creek Canyon!"

It was my first time stopping there to check it out, as we were at an event in Douglas. Cave Creek Canyon is on the other side of Chiricahua National Monument, in Portal, Arizona. We arrived late, and this was the last light, and the Chiricahua Mountains were covered in snow. Thank you Kevin for your lovely words expressed about this. I am glad you like this and feel it's a wonderful capture. I appreciate knowing that and for choosing this as one of your favorites too.

~ I wish if you could have a clear sky against this wondrous rock formation, dearest,... but, the cloudy sky doesn't make it less impressive ))) e~
Janet Marie replied:
That day the clouds were ever changing, but looking west it was more wintery skies, to the south and east blue sky with clouds. We will return there in the spring when all is green and the flowers are present. The fall would be great with the changing leaves. I have more images to share. Also we arrived there late in the day. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts about it. I appreciate it. Janet DEARestπππ
