π Come visit more biodiverse beauty, in my gallery "Cave Creek Cnyn Portal AZ" π
Nestled in the Chiricahua Mountains of Southeastern Arizona, 150 miles east of Tucson, lies Cave Creek Canyon, a hidden gem (as I didn't know this was here before), with spectacular rhyolite cliffs, pine-oak woodland, serene flowing streams, and abundant flora. Cave Creek Canyon has been dubbed, βArizonaβs Yosemite.β It is part of the Coronado National Forest Recreation Area.
You access this splendor, from the tiny town of Portal, which sits at the mouth of the Canyon.
These bare stone walls stand cloaked with lichen, looking as though paint has been spilled down the rock face. They are a real stand-out against this gorgeous sea of blue, with its brushed stroked clouds. These have aptly been nicknamed "Sky Islands!"
This is a real treat for me, because I am fond of trees, fascinated by rocks, and love the sky.

Amazing vertical rock walls, Janet. The tall trees look tiny way up there! So many faces in those rocks too! Lots of Caves too!....Fav/ like
