Description
The Athenian Acropolis, is an outstanding example of an "Architectural Ensemble," showcasing its important historical phases, since the 16th century B.C.E. The monuments of the Acropolis are distinctly unique structures, evoking the concepts of that period in the 5th century B.C.E., and representing the height of ancient Greek architectural achievement.
The grand composition of these marvelous, massive structures creates a monumental landscape of unique beauty to behold. This "Architectural Ensemble," is made up of a complete series of architectural masterpieces of the 5th century B.C.E. Prominently the Parthenon, which stands before us, along with the Propylaia, the Temple of Athena Nike, and Erechtheion.
I love the way these awesome trees, form a natural fence of protection around this famous landmark. Just adding to the beauty of this stone structure. Our 6 hour drive from Macedonia to Athens, Greece, was well worth the effort to view this ensemble of unique splendor.

Wow, Janet ... what a glorious day for your visit!!! I didn't get to see this perspective, but I have a shot of a temple off in this direction from the Acropolis ... can't remember what is is not, but I'm guessing that's where you were standing? And it looks like the scaffolding is finally off!! Fabulous!!!! l/f

No this perspective is from my hotel the Artist’s Loft. You have to be far back to capture this perspective and angle. From the window of our hotel, gave us the opportunity to view this at night too. For me it was difficult to know what all to photograph when you are at the Acropolis, since I had never been there before. Not doing any research in advance. The restoration work is still going on there with the Parthenon, which I wasn’t aware of until being there. A bit disappointing, but I made the most of it, surprisingly capturing many of the historic monuments, temples, and other points of interest. So I am most thankful and appreciative, Lois, for you taking the time to visit my gallery and show such interest in my photography. I am also delighted that you like it and have chosen it as one of your favorites. Janet💕

We stayed in a hotel/apartment type accommodations called "The Artist's Loft," and this is the panoramic view we had. At night it was lit up. So we would sit in the room with the lights out, window coverings opened, and think, WOW! The mind's eye certainly can take you back to that ancient time. Incredible architectural genius. I am glad you like this and have chosen it as one of your favorites too. 💕Janet
