It was glorious spring day, in the Arizona Sonoran Desert. The desert becomes a showy display of color. It was no exception this day in April 2019, at the Saguaro National Park Rincon Mountain District, Tucson, Arizona. (USA).
I especially wanted to capture some of the beautiful colors of springtime in the desert. You couldn't pick a better place, as the desert landscape is bursting with color of wildflowers and cactus blooms.
I love the "dare to be noticed" blooms that I may happen upon, and cannot be ignored. These very tiny, vivid blue wildflowers caught my attention. This was my 2nd encounter with them, having gone to my trusty website for wildflowers of the Southwest, I couldn't believe I identified them. They belong to the mint family, and one of the common names is Desert Chia (Salvia columbariae).
As you can see, only a small number of flowers are in bloom at any one time, growing out the ends of this hairy, spiky, seed ball. So, it was my delight to capture "Blue Bliss Of Desert Chia."

Janet, isn't is amazing how things grow and provide for nature in every corner of the land! This is beautiful! FLTwP
Janet Marie replied:
Debby! Thank you for visiting my gallery and sharing such a delightful comment about my photography. I really appreciate that, the tweet, pin, and the fave. Plenty to amaze us with 15,000 wildflowers in the USA alone, and 350,000 flowering plants worldwide. If we wanted to do a study project to get to know each flowering plant, 1 per day, it would take a little over 958 years. Hence this shows we were meant to live forever.
