Description
Ah, springtime in the Sonoran Desert, especially at Saguaro National Park East, in Tucson, Arizona. Since 1933 this extraordinary giant cactus, the Saguaro, has been protected within this national park (one of three national parks in Arizona).
The saguaro cactus has been called monarch of the Sonoran Desert, supreme symbol of the American Southwest, and a plant with PERSONALITY. It is renowned for the variety of ODD, ALL-TOO-HUMAN shapes it assumes...shapes that inspire wild and fanciful imaginings.
I love the various perspectives one can see as they look out over the landscape. Lots of desert flora surrounds these two saguaro youths, as they look out, as though with envy at the many arms of these mature saguaros. They may have to be about 70 years old before they sprout branches, or arms, but their time will come.
Part of that lush springtime beauty is the yellow blooms of the palo verde trees, and touches of red in the ocotillo flowers.

Rosalie! Thank you for visiting my gallery and sharing such a delightful comment about my photography. I really appreciate that. A shallow depth of field shot gives one such a composition and perspective. Sometimes it just works. Just one of the many stories the Saguaro Cactus tells.

Beautiful, story-telling depth of field here, Janet. I love the way the aperture choice helps emphasize the varying stages of growth and life of these amazing cacti.

Cindy! Thank you for visiting my gallery and sharing your wonderful comment about my photography. I really appreciate it! Well the Sonoran Desert is fascinating. In the past week where I live, we have had 9.35" of rain. So everything is so green.
